Guido Cavalleri - Voice, flute

Born in Pedemonte (VR) June 22nd 1961 (the "grandfather" of the group). Due (or thank) to my age, and also thank to the frequentation of boys a little older than me, I have had the chance of living in real time the splendid season of 70’s. From Italian Progressive bands (PFM, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, New Trolls, Rovescio della Medaglia...), to the English ones (King Crimson, Led Zeppelin, Gentle Giant, Yes, Jethro Tull...), moreover not neglecting other most valid truths of those years (Deep Purple, Jimmy Hendrix, James Brown, CSN&Y, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd and many other more): all we were looking for was good music, and at those times good music was spread around. But the lighten happened in a hot summer afternoon of 1973, when a friend of mine placed on the plate of my live stereo a disc as soon as published of a group never heard before: Genesis. It takes the first notes of "Watcher of the skies" and of the voice of Peter Gabriel in order to understand that that was "my" music. Having always been interested in singing and in the playing of pianoforte, which I sadly studied for 4 years only, I have always grown privately such a passion, exhibiting for my friends in the taverna of my parent’s house in unlikely, and overconfident covers of tracks of Genesis by pianoforte and voice. At one of these "exhibitions" Alberto Bonomi, he also a great fan of Genesis, was present. He had being looking for years for a singer in order to form a cover band of Genesis: it was the second half of eighty years and therefore, with Alberto, Alvaro, Andrea and Fabio started the project "Yellow Plastic Shoobedoobe" that lasted, with a long and lucky series of concerts in province and outside, and with a superlative react from the audience, until 1994. In this period, for script reasons, I begun in addition to study (a little to say the truth, and this had been noticed in some shows) and to play the flute. Afterwards, problems of job and other, have lead to the dissolution of the group. Consequently I returned to my private exhibitions until Marco Adami, former bass player of the Yellow Plastic, called at me just to know if I wanted to sing in a group that was developing just a plan in the ambit of rock-progressive: here again, it was enough to listen to a sizzling and rustling tape in order to understand that potentialities were good. So this new adventure had started, and personally, had already given me the same (or maybe greater) satisfactions as I felt with the Yellow Plastic, looking forward to achieve the same acknowledgment between the audience.

Preferred CDs: Travels (Pat Metheny), Peter Gabriel IV (Peter Gabriel), The lamb lies down on Broadway (Genesis), Les fleures bleues (Stefano Bollani)

Stefano Bigarelli - Keyboards

Born in Verona April 25th 1972 (what a year!!!! Let's add a link with all the best albums of the ' 72? sure). My first instrument: drum at 4 years old! After some days relegated to wine cellar, with great pleasure of the neighbours. Then following: guitar at 5 (constantly disaccorded and more profitable useful as an arm), fisarmonica at 6, trumpet at 7 (loyal wine cellar companion of its lordship the drum), keyboard Bontempi at 8. It turns out to you: great interest in music stuff but little wish to commit myself to. Eclectic and inconclusive while, at the age of 13, with Marco (Jack), a school mate of mine that had began to take drums lessons, during the gym hour, we decided (for joke) to set up a group: the Wildfire. As we did not succeed in finding a bass player (an attribute that during all these years has always be tied in with us...) here was I ready: I took up a bass and, without having the smallest idea of what it was, how it had to be played and what the hell it attended to, we began therefore to play pieces of that time: Simple Minds, Duran Duran, Level 42 and so on. After approximately three years, due to the leaving of Enrico, our keyboarder then, I decided to took his place: keyboards, my dream! Quickly realizing that I had many ideas but not to be technically able to put them in music, I took private piano lessons for the following two years. In the meantime, with the Wildfire, we began to put together a more and more increasing number of cover with pieces of our production (an Italian-honey-folk-singer style). With the income in the group of the bass player Massimiliano (to tell the truth a inspired classic guitar player) we became a true cover band and with Simone to the voice and Emanuele, historical guitar player of the Wildfire, we especially took the road to progressive rock, concentrating ourselves on the group of the Marillion of the Fish period. The live activity between ‘91 and ‘94 was intense and it was just in that period that "I got ill ", with a big time lag compared to the other Marygold, to progressive rock. At the end of the summer of '94, when Emanuele and Simone decided to leave the group in order to follow other musical paths, we luckily met Michele and Massimo, with whom we set the bases of the Marygold project.

Preferred Cds: Kind of blue (Miles Davis), Foxtrot (Genesis), The thieving magpie (Marillion), As the world (Echolyn)

Instrumentation: Master Keyboard Elka 88 MkII Korg O1/W FD Roland JV1080

Massimo Basaglia - Guitar

Born in Verona April 20th 1967. With a piano standing in the living room and a classic musical descendance from mother part, the involvement in music could not happen but in tender age. Unfortunately the leaning at that times was more to run behind a ball in a game field than to do scales with two hands, therefore the private piano lessons didn’t give the outcomes hoped and so this instrument becames, and still is, an exceptional and amusing support where ear satisfies (in part) to the lack of study. But attitude and family imposed moral compulsion in studying seriously an instrument, therefore, leftover violin given as gift from my parents (shocking sounds were coming out of it, in the worst sense of the term), at the age of 11 I begun to study classic guitar at the "Musical Civic School" of Verona that would had carry me through the adolescence for 6 years long; but in parallel started the interest for those English groups of '70s that succeeded to transport their own classic roots into rock (between all YES), and therefore classic guitar were replaced, or better placed side by side, by the electrical one, just in seeking of new motivation after so much studying. After some years passed in the cover band "the Blue Bloody fingers" (Hendrix, Bowie, U2 and other) and a short experience as bass player in the cover band "Constant Danger" (Elton John, Eric Clapton, an so on), the encounter with Michele, former colleague in the Arena of Verona, lead me to know Stefano, Jack and Massimiliano with which finally the background, classic and progressive, can came over and the musical affinities allow us to venture to the world of composing.

Preferred CDs: Thick as a brick (Jethro Tull), Yessongs (Yes), Genesis live (Genesis), Plays live (Peter Gabriel)

Instrumentation: Electric guitar Paul Reed Smith, acoustic guitar Fender, processor Roland GP-16, amplifier not decided yet. Don’t you ask me instead with which bass I have played in the CD, because I do not know ... however it looked more like a table for iron with the strings...

Alberto Molesini (Baro) - Bass

Ow, I'm one of the oldest in the band. born in Mantova, Italy, 3rd March 1964, I conceive myself as a musician (how beautiful it would be to stop here and say nothing else) with two clearly distinguished souls: on one side there's a live bass player and singer, very group-patic, with a solid experience of public live performances (about 400) mostly cover based. The cover band whom I still belong is called "Fratelli Brothers", inspired on 80s songs; on the other side there's an individualist songwriter, who prefers to compose with no compromises or discussions with anyone else and so necessarily lonely and multi-instruments player. A studio man with the dream-in-the-drawer to propose his own creations live on stage. Works of this latter soul are documented in three albums: "Lucillo & Giada" (1980,
re-recorded in 2000), "Topic Wurlenio" (1983) and "Utopie" (2004). References to Yes, Genesis and King Crimson can easily be heard. If you want to know (or to listen) some more you can find everything at http://www.vitaminic.it/artist/baro/?.
In Marygold I find a chance to make these two spirits live together. Even though I'm sort of a session-man in the band (it's the first time that I find one available to such a cooperation), the songs are so near to my way to conceive music to feel them mine. A certain degree of freedom in bass playing, due to the fact that I'm not bound to the reproduction of bass lines from a cover nor I have to sing too much, makes the experience a lot stimulating. As I'm sure it will be for you too, if you love progressive
music! Other former experiences: - Sintesi (Verona, 1978-1987): a band that proposed original material infuenced by melodic rock and tied to the so-called Italian pop music (Banco, New Trolls, PFM.). Public outcomes have been concerts, participation to "Verona Rock" contests and other provincial and national competitions
(among them a trial for RAI 3), up to the vinyl recording of a song (drawn by chance from "Topic Wurlenio"), result of a competition with Radio Studio 94; - Elam (Milan, 1984-1988): prog-metal duet, the other one was my cousin on guitar. We recorded demos with some interesting songs; - Hydra (Verona, 1989-1991): another quintet with prog roots. We recorded some songs with 80s new wave infuences.

Preferred CDs: Close to the Edge/Relayer (Yes), Lizard (King Crimson), Foxtrot (Genesis), One Size Fits All (F.Zappa)

Instrumentation: Yamaha TRB-5P bass guitar, Digitech BP-8 processor, amp is too heavy to carry...
